Season nine look back (Savoir & Metallo edition)

Goodvibe had a great "Best of S9" post which has inspired me to do something similar as I work my way back through the season this summer. Basically a compilation the moments I found most memorable in each episode.

I'll also be trying to crack the season nine formula. I've come up with a list of ten things which seemed fairly prevalent this season ( Read more... )

Hmmm, your formula has a double count of Zod, so its going to be tough on the score when he's not in. Maybe you should swap out the literature one with something specifically Clark related. But what? Maybe Clark and Jor-El interacting - or is that too easy? Somebody refers to Clark's destiny?

Ultimately I'm thinking I'd like to have two items per character and just not count the question when the character doesn't appear.

For instance I'm thinking I could add "Oliver screws up at playing the hero because is is all caught up in himself." Not sure what I could add for Tess though.

Clark is kind of hard. Jor-El is pretty much MIA the second half of the season so I don't think that one would pan out very well. Clark lies (to Lois) is a obvious one but I don't know if I want it one on my list.

Maybe Clark inspires (the good in) someone else? I kind of like that one.

Somebody refers to Clark's destiny?Interesting idea. I'll have to keep that one in mind. Was Clark's destiny discussed when Chloe and Clark were on the rooftop in Savior? Or in Metallo when they talked about him separating himself from humanity? I can't remember and I just recently re-watched, LOL ( ... )

This is awesome!

I think the Zod questions might skew your numbers. So, I might consider losing the Zod/literature question. Maybe you could include something about Clark, in Blur mode, perching on a rooftop? Something Clark related would probably be a better measuring scale.

Or, maybe something guest star related? Like, guest star spends more time interacting with a supporting cast member? Just spitballing for you. ;)

To prevent skewing I think for character specific items I just won't count the question at all if the character doesn't appear.

Clark perched on the rooftop is a good one! What I don't get, and I can't believe I didn't think about this until now, id if he can't fly doesn't it make it kind of inconvenient to wait up on a roof top? Does he jump off the roof (and take several seconds to fall a la Action) or does he super speed down the stairs?

I actually thought about the guest star one but it'd be a lot of work to figure out more time. There's the no time option (like with Mia and Ray Sacks) which is a lot easier but I don't think I'd get a good hit rate with that.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm loving your checklist. Boo on 'Metallo' for not making the cut, heh.

And ooh, looking forward to 'Rabid' - one of my favorite S9 eps.

The low score for Metallo is all Lois' fault. If she'd just agreed to jello wrestle Tess for her job back Lois would have played dress up and physically abused of Tess. And don't get me started on how Lois forced Corbin to show up an entire episode before he was ever needed!

looking forward to 'Rabid' - one of my favorite S9 eps.
Heh, when Rabid aired I figure somewhere out there DeKnight was screaming "That should have been my episode! Zombies were my idea and all I got to write about were exploding babies!"
