As Ran-kun opens the door to this particular study, he'll find he's hit jackpot. Not only has he found the Shinichi he is looking for -- other Conans barely tolerate being treated as a child. They would object strongly to sitting on someone else's lap. This one is not only happy where he is, but is cuddling -- but he's got found a bonus Shinichi he wasn't even looking for! Shinichi glances up as Ran enters, nodding in greeting but quickly turning his attention back to the story that Conan is reading him, as engrossed as though he is hearing it for the first time.

Which, considering the katana resting on the floor beside their armchair, he just might be.

Conan blinked. He didn't believe any of that statement. "Did I?"

Exasperated noise goes here. "She can't fight crime any more because the Organization thinks you were the Black Knight, right? But you came up with something." The statement is almost a question, Ran tilting his head slightly. He has to admit, he is curious to know what Conan's planning, regardless of the prompting from his female alternates.

"Oh!" Conan said. "That." He smirked. "It's not really a plan yet. We have to talk to Mouri about it first."

"Dad?" Now really curious, Ran crouched down in front of the door, arms draped over his knees. "What kind of a plan do you need him for?"

"The kind of a plan where we fight crime and nobody notices."

"How do you do that?" Skeptical Ran is skeptical. "Most people tend to notice crime fighting."

"Yeah -- if they see someone in a costume showing up and doing impossible things, people do tend to think crime-fighting. But if its just two kids tagging along after their P.I. guardian ..."

He thought about that for a moment.

"So kind of like what Conan and I do?"

"Yup! But cooler because you can't fly."

"That isn't my fault." He sighed. "Jeez, she was all worried about nothing..."

Conan frowned. "She ... ? Ah! You talked to her!"

Conan gives Ran the bitterest look he can manage and pointedly climbs back into his chair, holding up the book and beginning to read it.

"She was talking to the other Ran about it. You know, the one with the weird internet community?" It wasn't really a lie. "Why didn't you just tell her, anyway?"

"'Cause I need to work out a way to sell it to Mouri first," Conan said sulkily. "It's not ready yet."
