"Madder than a wet hen"

Sep 25, 2007 15:15

I've spent a good chunk of my life no longer identifying with a southern heritage, so I'm not sure if that phrase will mean anything to all you yanks or not. To explain, if you piss off a hen, she can get really nasty. Deadly nasty. Why am I even explaining this colloquialism to you? Well, because yesterday I truly realized just how crazy mad a wet ( Read more... )

*hugs* glad everyone was okay...

Unfortunately, we are also now living in a world where schools BAN games like dodge ball and tag and THAT scares me. I agree that -maliciousness- should never be excused, however good clean fun... *shrugs* *sighs* know what I mean?

I have fond memories of a game my class used to play in 6th grade. We called it kill ball. It was survial of the fittest, and I remember being quite perturbed when they made us stop playing. Though, the line at the nurse's office was significatly shorter after lunch time. Yeah, what happened to survival of the fittest? ;-)

Apparently there's some mall in New Britain where they keep finding bodies...if you want to jump on the bandwagon, I'll assist, seeing as it is so close to the tower anyway. :-D And then we can have tea or something.

In all honesty Moira doesnt strike me as a defenseless girl. In fact she seems to have a talent for manipulation already at such a young age. Now manipulation is an ugly word but a useful skill. So lets call it that she has the ability to work people.

She seems to understand what actions she can do to get the reactions she wants and that is plenty of defense right there. I think when she is a few years older and a bully pushes her down she will probably go win over a bigger kid to go beat up the bully.

Just a guess

I agree wholeheartedly that Moira is a button pusher. She's all about cause and effect, namely causing people to give her the effect she wants. I'd be a wretched parent to her, indeed, if I wasn't more stubborn than she is!

I don't know what scheme she'll come up with in the long run, but as long as it doesn't include her being hurt or actively hurting others, I'll be content.

Its really the sign of a smart kid. Esspecially at such a young age.

Most kids are probably still learning learning that

If you haven't seen the email and the other post, the answer to your question is next Tuesday. I hope a weeknight wouldn't be too horendous for you, and I'm also hoping that's not your late-night drinking class. You lush. ;-) (Kidding!)

Thanks for the offer of help. I'll cash in on that if I ever need it. ;-)

Point A. - The fact that you put Aidan and Vivian together into a sentance made me smile for a completely (obviously) unrelated reason.

Point B. - Tal is hilarious.

Point C. - At Moira's age, I'd probably have already pummeled the kid. I have no idea how I would feel if my daughter wasn't anything like me and didn't just not take shit from anyone.

Point A -- You know an Aidan and a Vivian?

Point B -- Tal IS hilarious.

Point C -- At Moira's age I was getting beaten up on the way to and/or from school. For 2 years. Until they started picking on my little brother, and then I hurt the bullies for serious. To this day I'll take just about as much crap as someone can dish out, but you mess with my family and you're in big trouble. I want Moira to learn the lesson that I never did -- you can stick up for yourself, too, and not just those you love.

Point A - Jarad and I's pet names for each other include Aidan and Vivian, a la Annette Curtis Klause's Blood and Chocolate.

Point C - I agree that's a good lesson to learn. But people sticking up for you can hinder that lesson, which was all I was really trying to say - I really don't know how I would try to teach my daughter to kick some ass without having to do it for her, which kind of defeats the purpose in the long run if you do it all the time.

Point A - There is no Point A, except that I like it when you smile cry.

Point B - Yeah, hilarious LOOKING.

Point C - Meg, if you need me to beat the crap out of this kid, say the word. He's probably not more than what, three feet tall? If he's pushing four foot, I may get some help but it'll get done.
