I looked at my son William this morning at breakfast and realized that he is the same age now that I was when I watched the first Apollo moon landing. The memories of that are tatted into my brain and I can recall it all so easily. Last night my Dad called to talk. The last couple of times I've spoken to him on the phone this week, he's seemed grouchy and tired. This morning as I drove my 47 minute drive to work, I kept thinking of an image from a classic film. It was an easy image to conjure, given the blackness of the unlit rural roads I travel at 4 AM, and what I kept thinking about was the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
