It’s the data that influences real-world decisions, and keeping myself invisible to that data and to the changes that they can subsequently create feels petty and self-centered to me today.

I feel you. This is my reason as well. This is why even when the choices make me angry, I choose the closest one over none at all. This is part of the reason I take surveys at my school, even though I don't give a shit.
