A very rough dress rehearsal

I tried on my stays and jacket with my shift, hip pads and petticoat. Let me state for the record that I hate my petticoat and am thinking of going back to the draw string. :P I had tried to adjust the petticoat for the panniers and now it just sucks with or without the panniers.

Ah well, on to the photos...

You look familiar...haven't I seen your face somewhere? ;)

I think the jacket is absolutely darling, but I can't get a good look at what's happening with the petticoat; your hands are in the way. It looks to me like it's laying funny in front, but a little fluffing would sort it out. It all looks good from the back. I don't understand why you don't like the petticoat. But if you have a drawstring one that suits you better, go for it!

Ah, the petticoat. I had it on a drawstring then decided I wanted to be more historically accurate, so I decided to pleat it to two tapes. After all that work, I realized that over my pocket panniers, it wasn't working. It was way short on the sides you see, because I didn't take them into account. Rather than starting over, I just let some of the end pleats off of the tape and turned the corners under. It wasn't too bad, but it looks like crap over my hip pads. The drawstring actually worked over anything, since I could re-distribute the fullness of the fabric where ever I needed it.

You are awesome, love! Wow!! I so wish I had the ability to sew -anything-, let alone what you can do. It looks great to me but you must remember that I was confused the first time I read about "stays" in your LJ. The "stays" I know best are the ones that teach dogs not to move so it was just a bit confusing.:)
