I tried on my stays and jacket with my shift, hip pads and petticoat. Let me state for the record that I hate my petticoat and am thinking of going back to the draw string. :P I had tried to adjust the petticoat for the panniers and now it just sucks with or without the panniers.

I'm riding a high right now, because I finished enough of my eyelets to try my stays on for real, without the false eyelet strips. I was actually able to tighten them down enough to bring the edges within 2-3 inches of each other, rather than the 4-5 inch gap I had before. I think the straps are going to work out too! I've got all the pieces cut out for the jacket I'm making from the Costume Close-Up pattern, and I've started assembling them. It's pretty simple and it's going smoothly, except for the fact that I don't have much fabric left for a stomacher. I'm going to have to either piece it or use another fabric. I finished transferring the pattern and started making my toile. I have to make some changes to the sleeve to accomodate my fat arms, but I think the rest of it may work completely unchanged.
