I wish I had an angel

((Not a post for spiral_rpg))

Cloud gazes into the fire, mind drifting and settling on no one thing. It's what he prefers, not having to think too deeply on issues weighing heavily on him. He didn't think it'd last, really, not even during those last moments Aerith and Zack had turned and left him, leaving him with a warm feeling that he wasn't, isn't ( Read more... )

Not alone indeed, although on second thought it might not have been the wisest of ideas to let him know so soon. Not the alternative was much better, really - Cloud had never handled surprise well and really, he wasn't looking to surprise him.

Or at least, not more than he absolutely had to. It might have been his choice to come back again, but it hadn't really been easy - not with the world having so recently come of off the destruction caused by the remnants and his temporary resurrection. And his madness to, though he'd rather not admit it.

He's hardly even been using the abilities he has which could make this easier, save for the ones that can get him out of sight faster. Of course, this does have a slight tendency to make finding Cloud tricky, but he's been following him long enough - and the flickering light of the fire does offer something to head towards.

Cloud shifts on the sturdy, green sleeping roll he's reclining on, still lost in his thoughts. Instinct compelled him to reach for his sword, fully disengaged and in first form, even before his enhanced hearing registered approaching footsteps. First Tsurugi, already buried partially into the grassy ground next to him, is wrenched forward, sharp tip towards the approaching figure before Cloud's glowing eyes abandon the sight of flames to peer into the darkness. He barely makes out the figure gliding closer.

"Who's there," Cloud asks, tone dangerous and warning intruders to just stay away if they value their life. He's in no mood for company.

There's not all that much of him to see - his coat mostly blending into the darkness, although the firelight casts patterns of orange and red and yellow across silver hair and it's rather hard to miss those slit-pupiled eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. So really, it's hardly a question at this point as to just who it is.

"Just me." The voice is just as distinctive as its owner sadly, so by this point there should really be no question as to who's come for a night-time visit.

Although it might be worth noting he doesn't look particularly likely to start attacking anytime soon.

Cloud automatically scrambles up at the voice, further confirmation after his shocked eyes took in the infamous silver hair and eyes. He...he can't believe that all his worries are coming true, given free form right before his eyes.

It looks like the clone wasn't a clone after all.

Cloud shouldn't be surprised by this point, he internalized. Sephiroth has come back time and time again, and he's not even sure why he thought this time was different. It isn't.

In a wary stance now, Cloud's blade still leveled at Sephiroth, Cloud hesitates a moment before forging ahead with his question. It seems that their meetings always start out the same.

Cloud tries for his best 'don't f*ck with me voice,' "Sephiroth. What do you want?"

Not this time at least. Rather, a man just trying to do his best to deal with what he's had the misfortunate of having done - and entirely of his own free will.

Although if Cloud thinks that this time is the same as all of there other meeting, he might just have another think coming. Of course, telling the madman from what's left of The General might not be easy.

"Put your sword down, Cloud. That's not what I want." Not that he won't answer in kind if Cloud presses the matter, but if they can have a civil conversation, so much the better.
