Justine and I have discovered something awful. The Book, the world's last bastion against technology, is being turned into a palm-pilot-like-device. I saw it myself at Borders. Sony (and I think a few other companies) has come up with this awkward looking hand-held thing with a screen. You load the 'book' cartridge in the back like a video game.

but then i looked at YOUR explanation and all was enlightened. i agree because to collect a book is to collect a MEMORY of time well spent. the cover has meaning, and for me certain splotches of food on certain pages provide a nice cozy glance into exactly what you're talking about: the comfort of a book in your hand, words physically available without the impinging force of technology. a comfort that hits the spot like no other.
because if even books are destroyed and plasticified, what have we, readers?! WHAT HAVE WE?!?!?
i will tell you what we have we then have apocalypse.

and yeah....the golden compass caught my eye too....i'm not scared to admit.
