You know what I've not done yet? My 2011 review. Do I want to do one? Mhm... well, why not?

But, gee, where to start. 2011 certainly has had its ups and downs. The good bits have been really good, but the bad bits, though far fewer, have been really bad. Sucks.

Hi, there, sorry I haven't been in touch, but thanks for your update. I'd only been on LJ sporadically, so I'd been wondering what you've been up to.

Sorry your year started out so depressingly. I've been in that kind of job too. But it sounds like it got a lot better.

I hate moving too; in fact, I still haven't finished moving out of my ex's place; you accumulate a lot of stuff over 14 years, and, though I've moved all the big stuff, there are still a lot of odds and ends to clean up, and it's always depressing going there and being reminded of the split.

I'm surprised The Tempest was such a dud! I'd have expected better from Ralph Fiennes and the RSC!

I don't know much about Discworld, so I can't comment on that. I only know the book Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett, which drove me crazy because there were no chapter divisions! ;) Not a bad book, some of it was funny, but it didn't make me want to read more of his work ( ... )

No worries about not being in touch - I can hardly comment! I've not been a very regular and punctual friend to many of my internet buddies the past year myself, so there's nothing to worry about there!

"The Tempest" was very much a Marmite play, from what I can gather - you either loved it or you hated it. Raplh Fiennes was fine in it, it was just a very slow, drawn-out production which didn't excite me at all. It wasn't an RSC production.

I must confess I've not read "Monstrous Regiment" yet (eep!) so can't givemy own opinion of that. Quite a few people get frustrated by the lack of chapters in Pratchett's books, which isn't something that's ever bothered me at all, but there we go - we're all different. I'd say maybe reading "Mort" or "Guards! Guards!" would give you a better idea of how good Terry can be, but saying that, Discworld and Pratchett's humour and style aren't for everyone. I absolutely love his work, though ( ... )
