Yes, John certainly is worth his weight in gold. I like how you demonstrated Mycroft's growing understanding of John's worth. (Sherlock, of course, had figured it out much more quickly. ;-))

I agree, there can never been too much Mycroft fiction. This is particular really caught the character, both as portrayed by Gatiss and what little was seen in the books. Mycroft was always a favorite of mine, so I thank you.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. I've really grown to love Gatiss' Mycroft. I just can't help wanting him to rule the world. I think he gets more powerful the more I write him. :D

lol - thank you, and actually I think the fic started with the pills. I think that was one of the first things on the to-do list - berate Sherlock for being an idiot. :D

Glad you enjoyed the story. Once I started with the to-do lists I couldn't stop and the story grew from one scene to what it ended up being.

"It occurs to me that the drug could easily be something prescribed to the cabbie and which he's had to have a steadily increasing dose of over the years, to the point where his daily dose is one that would kill a healthy person."

Exactly.

And there are poisons to which you can build up an immunity. (The Princess Bride, anyone?)

As for aneurysm, there is that weird spring/shunt technique thing I've heard of. It's sometimes considered minor surgery now. (As compared to the old method where they drilled a hole in your skull and went in that way and the patient had a 6 month recovery time.) But they go in through a tiny slit, and leave this metal thing in the vein that keeps the rupture from happening. You can't get an MRI anymore, afterwards, I think.

I was wondering why they didn't have the cabbie dying of something else.

AIDS? Cancer? Inoperable brain tumor. (Though I think brain tumors are a bit overdone. Some tumors are very slow growing.)

It's like John told Sherlock, you're an idiot.
