“Mirage sto--” Words broke off into a pained cry as a blast tore through his shoulder, the red minibot stumbling backwards until his back hit a wall and he slumped over a bit. Fear coursed through his circuits as he heard then saw his attacker approaching, a hand pressed against his shoulder as he felt the cool flow of blood seeping down his frame. “Please--”
“Begging does not suit you at all,” the blue and white mech drawled, golden optics dark with their disgust for the bot before him as he leveled rifle with Cliffjumper's helm. “It's a wonder that anyone kept you around this long.”
And then he fired.
---
“NO!”
Jerking upright, vents heaving as his spark raced, Cliffjumper tried to get ahold of himself, ghost pain coursing through his helm and shoulder as he put a hand to his head. Optics were bright with the lingering fear he had felt in his dream and the minibot trembled faintly.
It had seemed so real..
“Cliffjumper?” The voice startled him, the mech jerking around to look at the bot that had been resting beside him, golden optics filled with worry as he slowly sat up. “Is everything alright?”
“Y-Yeah. Yes,” Cliffjumper said, nodding sharply as he forced himself to pull himself together, glancing off to the side as he frowned. “Just a....no, it's nothing. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you,” he grumbled now. A gentle hand touched his cheek, tracing along the seams before cupping it. His optics met Mirage's once more, unable to look away again as the noble frowned softly.
“If you need to talk..”
“I know. Thanks...I appreciate it,” the minibot murmured, hesitating a moment before the tough guy act dissolved just a touch and he turned his head just enough to nuzzle his partner's palm. “Let's get some more rest...Primus only knows when we'll be able to get some next.” Mirage nodded, his hand lingering as he watched Cliffjumper for a moment longer before he let himself sink back down, tugging the minibot with him. Arms wound their way around the smaller frame and Cliffjumper had no choice but to curl close to the other's chestplating, vents cycling softly in a sigh as he let his optics dim then shutter completely. Delicate fingers traced over the back of Cliff's helm as the noble listened to the sound of his companions vents cycling down, his systems falling into a comfortable hum as recharge overtook him once more.
“...Rest well...” he murmured, lip components twitching faintly in a ghost of a smirk before he allowed his optics to shutter as well, giving into recharge once more.
