Surprise!
Freyr and I were at a cat show in Phoenix on Saturday, July 3rd. I went mostly to see folks since Freyr hadn't been placing the last few shows. To my utter astonishment, Freyr placed in 4 out of 6 rings!!! He got two 9th place ribbons, one 7th best ribbon, and -- best of all -- one 3rd best ribbon! Who knew?

Mother's Day

Earthquake
Am at my folks' house (sleeping) when my father said there was just an earthquake. The chandelier was moving back and forth and it looks like there was a 6.9 earthquake in Baja California. My first earthquake and I slept through it. -
Cooking and Shopping
Am making lasagna again and the red sauce has been cooking away today in the crock pot. First time I've ever cooked with raw tomatoes -- normally I buy canned. The 99 Cent store didn't have the big cans of tomatoes so I decided to buy the fresh ones since the cans at the regular supermarket would cost more. We'll see how it goes.

Pre-Rodeo Festivities
Work has Rodeo activities going today with making a float for the parade and enjoying hamburgers and hot dogs. This is, of course, for the Tohono O'odham Rodeo, not the Tucson Rodeo. I was volunteered while out of the office to give basic square dance lessons. Gulp. -
Lasagna!
Did you know you can make lasagna without first cooking the noodles? That makes life much easier! I've made lasagna a couple of times this week using extremely lean ground pork. I had planned to use ground turkey, but the pork only has 4 grams of fat vs. the 8 grams in the turkey ( Read more... ) -

For any friends living in Arizona, California, Nevada, or Texas, or have family/friends in those states, I strongly recommend the 99 Cent Store. Not to be confused with other dollar stores, the 99 Cent Store sells things for a dollar or less.
