He’s sick of it. It’s really too much, the biting comments - whether they’re in jest or serious, Jongdae thinks the joke is old. ‘Baozi’. He hates that nickname for his hyung because, although it has plenty of cute connotations, the main description is ‘chubby’, ‘fat’, ‘round’. When fans call Minseok ‘baozi’ they do it out of love, when Luhan calls Minseok ‘baozi’ he does it because he’s annoying - but it still gets under Jongdae’s skin either way.
It’s late in the afternoon and the sun has already gone down, the winter months making the days all too short. Minseok is lounging on the couch and the other members are in various states of doing nothing, so Jongdae goes and plops his ass right next to his hyungs’. Minseok doesn’t pay any mind at first, his attention on the TV and his hands occupied with the XBOX controller, but when Jongdae clears his throat not-too-subtly and scoots closer, Minseok pauses his game and blinks over.
“Jong-“
“Baozi~~” Luhan chooses that time to drape over the back of the couch and attack Minseok with obnoxious cuddles and hair ruffles and slurred Korean baby names.
Minseok chuckles a bit, trying to brush off the Chinese man, and Jongdae’s back stiffens as his jaw sets. Wasn’t Luhan busy doing… other stuff? Jesus.
“Luhan,” Minseok is still trying to bat Luhan away from him. “Stop, you’re gonna make me lose my game.” His smile is thin, and Jongdae clears his throat loudly.
“Hyung,” he directs his gaze towards Luhan, who glances up, finger in mid-poke on Minseok’s cheek. “Don’t you think that Minseok hyung gets a little tired of the nicknames?”
“Why should he?” Luhan asks innocently. He’s either evil, or crafty. Jongdae is gonna bet on a mixture of the two. “Do you?” He directs his question towards Minseok, who shrinks into the couch.
Asshole clearly doesn’t want to get caught up in any argument that may or may not happen.
“He’s lost weight,” Jongdae says. Ah, blunt honesty. “Can’t you think of a different nickname?”
Luhan’s eyes rake over Minseok’s body, and the older man seems to shrink under the scrutinizing gaze.
“No.” Luhan says. “‘Baozi’ is a cute nickname, and Minseok is cute.”
Jongdae pinches the bridge of his nose. “Minseok hyung, please tell him you don’t like being called ‘baozi’.”
“But why?” Minseok glances between the two of them.
“Yeah Jongdae, ‘but why’?” Luhan smiles prettily. Jongdae hates him.
Throwing his hands up in the air, Jongdae stands from the couch. “Minseok is handsome, with some cute moments, and he’s way better than some stupid bun image.” He stalks off towards his bedroom, grumbling. “Fucking impossible.”
He slams the door to his room, leaving a confused Minseok and a gleeful Luhan, who insists loudly on picking up Player 2.

There’s a knock on his door, and Jongdae at first assumes it’s Tao coming to tell him dinner is ready, but when he calls for entry, he’s surprised to see Minseok shuffling in, head bowed.
“Hyung?” Jongdae sits up on his bed, closing the book he was reading.
“Hey,” Minseok shuts the door behind him and leans behind it. “Look, about earlier…”
“It’s fine,” Jongdae waves a hand in the air. “I knew it was a losing battle.”
“Yeah,” Minseok lifts his gaze and there’s a small smile curling on his thin lips. “But you tried. And I really appreciate that. No one… has said anything about it before.”
Jongdae relaxes, returning the small smile as he swings his legs over the side of the bed. “You’re welcome, hyung.”
There’s a comfortable silence and an exchange of thankful smiles, before Minseok breaks the silence.
“You really think I’m handsome?”
“Ok, you’ve over-stayed your welcome, thank you for your leisure at the Kim Inn but it’s time for you to go,” Jongdae stands grabbing his pillow and hurling it at Minseok with a laugh. “You owe me 5,000 won!”
“Wow you give great compliments and you’re cheap!” Minseok laughs, and then screeches as Jongdae launches after him, chasing him out of the bedroom.
“Do my dishes for a week!” is all that can be heard before two bodies collide to the floor.
Luhan grunts and turns up the volume of the TV, rolling his eyes. “Idiots.”
