It seems that J.K. Rowling has announced the title of the last book on her website -- there hasn't been any confirmation yet that this is the real title, but it certainly seems that way.

This post on The Leaky Cauldron explains how to view the title on the author's site. (There's a first step that they left out of the instructions. The first ( Read more... )

I can never tell much about these books from the titles. Clearly this one will be dark but I'd guessed that about the end from the very beginning... I want the book to be released now please... but then again I don't as it's the last one. I am conflicted...

Well, generally we fans always feel conflicted when things end, right? Like if you're watching a series finale, say, or finishing a book. In this case, we're finishing SEVEN books, and there won't be any more (I don't think). *sniff* Why do stories have to end?

At any rate, though, that's how fanfiction comes in handy, I suppose. :) Gotta love the technology of the World Wide Web...

This is true although I've found most Harry Potter fanfic to be written by younger, shall we say, less talented writers... there's a lot of searching involved in finding the good stuff ;)

I really don't think there should be anymore after the 7. I know people will want more but this is the way it was originally planned, I think it cheapens the effect if more are written...

Yes, you're right -- I know on a logical, intellectual level that there shouldn't be any more after the 7th one...but from the emotional, I-want-to-keep-reading-about-these-characters side of things, that doesn't stop me from wishing there was. :)

And yeah, it does take some good searching to find good fanfiction. It's a hard job, but somebody's got to do it. ;)
