I went to school for 20 years, and all I got was this diploma

Well, okay. Two diplomas, technically. And one of them I'm not getting until tomorrow at my university convocation ceremony, which I'm sure will be anti-climactic after all these years of educational, stressful, self-doubting and self-affirming student-being. Hmm. Anyway, I suppose it'll be nice to go back to my alma mater one last time to ( Read more... )

Agreed about the music. I like some of the new stuff that is coming out but I find that I'm liking less and less of it. The mass produced market is aimed at the teenaged crowd and most of the songs are ones I just don't care to listen to... or to buy which is the more important point for the industry.

I think that the LotR show should not have ever been advertised as a musical. They've sort of dropped that tagline but it stuck, everyone thinks it's a musical and it's not at all. It's a play that has some songs in it but you could get rid of every song and not lose any plot, ergo it is not a musical.

When I saw it I guessed that it would be the hardcore LotR fans who would enjoy the show a lot... from what you say I guess this is not so... As a musical fan I was not overly thrilled with the show. I didn't hate it but I wouldn't see it again and I was sure glad that I had a free ticket lol.

Well, in terms of sticking with details from the book, they did an impressive enough job, even given certain changes that needed to be made considering the whole thing was only three hours long. I did enjoy it, but I probably wouldn't go again either. How did you get a free ticket?

Oh a girl I worked with knew someone who managed the tickets for Mirvish so she got free tickets to EVERYTHING and she didn't like theatre, it was a great situation for me. I just had to see the show, tell her some key details then she could pretend that she went :)

When I went it was still sitting aroung 4 hours long and it was just too much so it's good to hear that it's settled to about three, that's much more manageable.
