The rules: "Comment to this post and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself."

When I was maybe four or so, I was stuck in bed with a very high fever, and in this state watched an episode of Care Bears which happened to be on. I had never seen any other Care Bears before, and this was an episode (I remember very clearly) where some meteorite fell and sucked the color out of everybody in an expanding radius and made them all creepy and robot-like and they didn't care.

I was terrified.

To this day I still feel a residual uneasiness about Care Bears, and literally cannot handle any fiction about a specific absence of color. Black and white movies don't count, but Pleasantville is right out, and I still get sick to my stomach when I think about The Giver.

Children's television is powerful stuff.

Sounds more like one of my Care Bears: Call of Cthulhu games.

Yeah, it's kind of like Care Bears meets the Color out of Space.

The pacing of Teletubbies already feels like being under anesthesia. I can only think it was created to appeal to this audience. Or stoners. Or babies. Or all three!

I have fond, fond memories of Muppet Babies, too--given I was born in 1980, I remember this much better than The Muppet Show, which ended in like 1981? 82? This past year I managed to get my hands on Perfectly Legal copies of all the episodes, and watched the entire series again. It made me realize how much my personality was a mash-up of baby Miss Piggy and baby Gonzo.
