Flooded

It's been raining a lot lately and the basement leaked once before, but since it's been raining so much without much sign of water, I got lax in checking the basement. Duckman comes home and heads straight down, and lo and behold, there is a pool of water snaking its way across the floor. Duckman converts the shop-vac to "wet". I alternatly ( Read more... )

Oh man, poor you. Duckman's going to earn those webbed feet before the weekend's out, isn't he? Glad it's stopped again now, and I hope that it won't pick up again like this tomorrow. We got what, 80 mm overnight? That's like the entire month of June's rainfall in one day. It looks like it might actually dry out bit tomorrow.

Frohickey experienced the same thing at his home in Edmonton many years ago; the ground just gets so saturated that it seeps in through the cracks and up through the floor drains. We've been fortunate here so far - knock on wood - though we are in a basement, it's been dry. The eavestroughs were spilling over near the front door during the last rain spell, but that's been taken care of. In fact, the only time we've had any water damage was when we were away in November and the hose on the upstairs washer let go.

This is all really an experience I can do without. ::fingers crossed, hoping::

We got BEAUTIFUL weather here! :) I would think you would be use to that after all your time on the Barge.
