You're right, it iss supposed to be Alaska. I suppose if you want to make a place look like Alaska, but you don't actually want to film there, BC/Alberta is the closest you'll get.

I gather that the character of Dr. Goodman will be back in future episodes. Apartantly, they just left him out to introduce Cam. (He was on vacation, if I remember correctly.)
