Yeah. If one of them dies Sam would make a lot of sense. Dean left alone in the (probably) saved world is kind of poetric. Also if Sam dies I think his killer could be Dean, killing the one he loves or at least once loved for the greater good. And that thought just makes my heart clench.
If Sam and Dean would stick tightly together now, they would probably both go down (but swinging, and as you said, better together in death than apart). But if they keep drifting away from each other, Sam will die if the world is saved, and Dean will die if it isn't. And that's sad too. ;(
I agree with you on the OOC-ness. I posted on my journal about it too. The fight was just so one-sided it was ridiculous. There were plenty of mean things Dean could've shot at Sam, but in the end it's just Sam's an asshole, and Dean just wants *his* Sammy back. Well maybe Sam would like *his* Dean back too! Neither of them act the way they used to, but because of Dean's "great sacrifice" that Sam would never have wanted, Sam's just supposed to go back to being who he was? Dean's never wanted to deal with Sam's psychic issues, and trusting Castiel over Sam in Metamorphosis when he finds out was just one of many instances when Dean shows how he doesn't really believe in Sam at all anymore.
I have thought more than once that the writers were trying to make him unlikable so no one would take issue with killing him off and replacing him with Castiel or something. Gah, this show is just driving me crazy lately.
Word. I couldn't have said this better myself. I do understand that Sam might be feeling that Dean is slowing him down, but he has other things to feel angry at Dean about, and by making him say the stuff that he really shouldn't be angry about, (and Dean just wanting "his little brother" back)the writers make him look like an asshole that thinks of no one but himself.
(Sorry for the bad eglish, I'm tired and can't think straight. :])
Yes, Sam saying the stuff he did would've probably made more sense if we had seen more of what's going on in Sam's head earlier in the season. Now it just feels like he's acting like an asshole without no solid reason.
I thought Sam was in character. He has always had his moments of superiority over Dean. The I'm smarter than you, I'm more normal than you, I've got powers I can use and i'm the only one that can save us. It has been the same thing since season 1. It's part of his character, and its part of their brotherly relationship as well
( ... )
Now, while I loved what Sam said to Dean from the standpoint it was basically - MAN UP - i think that he was a lot less justified in it. If Sam had slated him for stalking him, or he made comments about Dean not trusting him it would have been more justified, but to up and expect him to be emotionally stable after his time in hell is a little bit harsh.
That is basically what bugs me about the scene. But you're right, both brothers have their reasons to be angry at each othe and the arguments that Sam used in the scene are a lot less justified than Dean's. I just wish he would've said something about Dean not trusting him etc.
It really looks like the finale is gonna be interesting.
Anyway I loved it cos it was like Man Up and I think we all want Dean to return back to the guy he has been in previous seasons. Just because Hurt!Dean is great, but only when he gets better.
Also, the Finale i think will go one of two ways. Either the episode will make it so that Dean will snap out of it and man up and it will be better, or it will make Dean worse and he will slip over to the darkside. ha.
Either way this episode was a great way of leading into a hiatus.

I also think he's heading towards Evil!Sam, but that's different.
I want both boys alive. They already died too many times.

I used to be a Sam boy but right now... He's an asshole and I just want to smite him.
I'm really angry at the writers, because that's the first time that we have about Sam's feeling this season, and it's just awful.
I'm really disappointed.
