Oh yeah - and Rodney is a scientist, so even when he thinks he is just looking idly at Ronon, he's cataloging what he sees, and he is eventually going to start putting it together.
Re: Rope-burns of YOUTH and Inexperience -Yes yes! The real question here is how much Youth and Inexperience are we talking about for Ronon
( ... )
You know, as far as completing the ritual goes (and, obviously, please don't let this interfere with your plans) I think it would be nice if Ronon could complete the ritual in a way that was meaningful to him that still incorporated the new realities of his life and Atlantean culture, or somethin'.
Also, I know I'm a bad person, but the whole Ronon-semi-gang-raped by gangs of women? Hot. But I do think he seriously needs to learn about consensual sex at some point. However, I do think it would take longer for him to learn about the novel idea of turning down a woman for sex when you're tired or secretly gay because women are pretty scarce on the Atlantis mission and none of the men he knows ever, ever turn down sex.
maybe (in the dictionary of Satedan Slang) having your Arms Stretched is a sort of dirty way to talk about laid. Barracks talk when someone is all wound up about something - like "That guy really needs to get is Arms Stretched soon"
I think the linguists would go nuts and follow Ronon around collecting Satedan slang if he started using such odd (to the Atlanteans) slang. And they'd all be going "what *is* the significance of rope in Satedan?" and comparing rope metaphors that Ronon has to rope metaphors the Athosians use... and possibly finding out quite a lot that the anthropologists will squee over, and will make Major Sheppard and Dr. Weir blanch when they finally read the reports.
