also, I love this quote: Language isn't a living thing, it's a technology. It's a lot like sanitation: the fact that standards of public health change over time is no excuse to go shit in the drinking water.
I do think you're entirely too stodgy there but it is a very colorful sortof explanation of your view.
Then, I had a freshman year undergrad art theory class where they came in and did a 'what does the word 'art' mean?' and I ended up in an argument where I suggested if one were to define the word 'elephant' as a pen and insist on referring to a pen as an 'elephant' they were less likely to make any sortof positive change to language and much more likely just to fail to have anything to write with if they insisted on asking for an elephant when they needed a pen.
Which is to say, I recognize there are limits but I do think abusing language is a fun sport and so long as you're successfully communicating through your random butchering of grammar I don't see why it should be a problem really.
Riding in a top hat is my ultimate dream. I think I'm going to buy one (when I have the money) so that one day I will wear it. :P (Not that I need more drive!)

Especially if it's a European-style dressage top hat like this one.
I'd die from a fatal overdose of puppy love.

My riding instructor says it'll be, like, four years before I can wear one.
