You're Assuming He Cares.shelleybearMay 9 2006, 11:43:48 UTC
Seriously, this is a man who has ridden businesses into bankruptcies with a smile. He has no sense of guilt about anything he screws up. Unlike Nixon, he won't resign because he doesn't see himself as doing anything wrong
rwt Moussaoui: I think the judge and jury in the case got this one exactly right. Most thinking people are satisfied that the man made his own bed and should be made to sleep in it.
ZM claimed to want life-imprisonment rather than death, and that's what he'll get, even though he may have expected the death penalty and possibly martyrdom. I suspect this life sentence, essentially making him rot in prison, will drive him completely over the edge, and his jailers should watch very carefully for any attempt at self-abuse. In a very strong sense, this form of sentence is worse than the death-penalty.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
re the autistic recruitment: As some of you may know, my youngest son has Aspergers Syndrome, which is considered a mild form of autism. Anyone talking to him for a few minutes would know that (1) he is very smart and (2) something is not right with him. (Well, maybe not at an SF con. His speech patterns, tendancy to obsess on subjects, and lack of social graces would not stand out there.) Unless he was being recruited for a very specialized reason, such as going to cryptography classes, I find it hard to think that he would be thought of as good, or even acceptable, material. He would never make it through basic. Actually, trying to impose military disipline on him might result in his DI not making it through basic.

No news coverage.
Put him in with the general population.
What creates a martyr is news of his death.
No news, no martyr
