Very frustrating day on a lot of accounts.  More after the cut.

You might give the home health agency a call. It really sounds like they have the paperwork mixed up. They *should* be coming to look at your cellulitis and check on your antibiotics. YOu need to let the agency know that they aren't doing that.

You'd be surprised at how young some people start having serious health problems, which is why you might be getting those questions. Makes me grateful I'm still chugging along at 54.

I intend to. The thing is that I'm actually doing quite well with the oral cipro, so I wasn't cranked up to go after them on it - as in 'You lunkheads, you're neglecting me and I'm going to pieces' just doesn't apply.

Is this the DuPage Co visiting nurses? I've actually been very impressed with them when they've come to deal with my mom. (Who is in their usual age range.)

It's out of Advocate Health Care; they're a mixed bag. I've had very good ones in the past when I was sent home with an IV for infection. These guys were nice enough, but....annoying and ignorant.

How old is Meredith? Could she be showing some signs of early puberty? I've heard the attitude changes first and what was once a pleasant child can flip at the drop of a hat. This can be a precursor to body changes by a year or more. My oldest is 8.5 and we're starting through that now. Kids today develop overall so much faster than when I was a kid. May of her 10 year old friends have periods and wear bras already. Sheesh!! Just an idea to explain a little of Meredith's moodiness.

She's almost nine and a half. If it's moodiness due to hormones, ummmmm.....I think too early yet. I think that if it's not organic, it's because of stress from school. Fourth grade has been very loaded with work - I'm astonished at how advanced the work has been, and how MUCH of it. Susan is far more convinced that poor Mere has been just overloaded and is struggling, and what we're seeing is more likely to be a nervous tic developing from her than TMJ or something.

Whatever is going on, I want to make sure *now* that it's NOT organic. It's causing her a lot of discomfort, and if there's something I can do medically, I want to do it right away and give her relief. If it's just her schoolwork load, I'll support her as best I can for the next month until she gets out of school for the summer.

Looks like something is bothering Meredith. Perhaps Susan can talk to her about it. Sometimes we know that something is afoot when they start lagging behind their work.

You may well be right.

Susan and I have different parenting approaches to Mere; it's one of our areas of conflict sometimes. Even when they're furious with each other, Mere still wants to jump into Mommy's arms for comfort...

I'm not the shout-and-yell sort. You know it if I'm unhappy, and I'm far from unemotional, but I learned long ago that just blowing up at your child is counterproductive. Doesn't mean that she can't drive me crazy...

This was the only scientific press release I could find quickly re: early puberty in internationally adopted children

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/09/080918170811.htm

Rumors of it abound, however.
