Great info on Dixie Hwy..i plan on blogging on that area soon over at Daytonology. That four lane stretch was the oldest in the city, built around WWII from the traffic circle up to US 40. Apparently they just hooked on an interstate to either end of it and left the traffic lights up for awhile.

I *think* that that area was the oldest area built of the highway, and they got around to it last AFTER the downtown part was completed. For a long time, you had to get off 75 around where the UD arena is now (going north) to get into the city, and further back than that, you got off down by where Woody's used to be in West Carrolton.
