Red sure suits Shintaro, does it not (´∀`)♡? Especially deep red... Anyways, I appreciated Shintaro's frankness in this interview. His pandering to the audience is never overdone and therefore never seems fake (whereas, at least in my opinion, some juniors try too hard with their appeals and come across looking, well, like they're trying too hard). Shintaro's frank honestly about his own spirit really boosts his appeal, to me at least.
[Shintaro Spirit #1-Cherishing Friends] I want to be a man who kindly and warmly makes connections to all the friends I have around me. The other guys in [Bakaleya], my friends at school, each and every one of them is important to me. From now on everyone single one of them is essential.
[Shintaro Spirit #2-Not Becoming Too Heated, Not Becoming Too Calm] Basically, I want to be a passionate, heated-up man, however it’s a problem when I become too heated up and the people around me won’t look at me, therefore I also want to have an appropriately calm part. And yet, it’d be awesome if I could live life like a weirdo (smile).
[Shintaro Spirit #3-Getting Hyped Up Once A Day] Although there are times when I can’t get excited, it’d be tiresome if I was always like that, so I always push myself to try to raise my tension once a day. The technique I use is to join someone else who is excited and get pumped with them (smile). But sometimes, after I’ve gotten too hyper, CRASH! I got all depressed again… It sure is hard to control your feelings.
[Current Status] The filming for “GTO” (Fuji TV weekly on Tuesdays from 22:00~) has begun at last. This time I’m playing a guy with a “mother complex”. Up until now I’ve never played this sort of character, so it’d be great if, as I diligently consider the role by through own means, I could play my type of “Murai.”
I'm not sure what Shintaro meant when he said that he wanted to be a "weirdo" (≧∇≦). My best guess is that he's referring to living the way he wants to, not necessarily following society's rules, or something like that. If anyone's interested in reading the translations of the other Bakaleya boys' parts, please let me know. I translated Shintaro's because it was of the most interest to me, but I'd be happy to attempt the others.
