If I think it's (marginally) better to do nothing than my best estimate of what will happen if they do grow some balls and pass something, am I better off calling and telling them to wait, or just staying silent?

I lean toward silence, on the theory that any distraction induces a call.

But by now I've watched three instances where things changed because enough people called with a clear message.

I'd do it, but I live in Arizona. Calling Kyl or McCain would be like pissing into the wind.

I have written to my congresscritter, Gabrielle Giffords, twice about this including once last week.

Call Reid. Call the White House.

Call McCain and tell him to get onboard with repealing DADT.

Just so you know: I did try to call both Feinstein and Boxer. I got repeated busy signals for Feinstein and a "mailbox full" for Boxer. But I didn't take your advice to call early, and I wish I had. Maybe I'll call tomorrow.
