According to the latest Gallup poll Congressional approval writeup

The current drop in overall job approval to 21% particularly reflects a substantial drop in approval among Democrats, whose 36% rating this month is 18 points lower than last month's 54%, and the lowest since January of this year.

Whereas two of the top selling solo artists of all time, Elvis Presley and Garth Brooks, are rooted in country music;

Whereas Garth Brooks, with 128,000,000 records sold, is the top selling solo artist in United States history;

Garth Brooks is king !!!
If anyone needed anymore evidence that congress is clueless, this is final proof.
Need I spell it out?

E L V I S is king !

Insignificant feel-good bills are not what is keeping Congress from tackling more important issues. They could do both at once if they wanted to.

I didn't claim they did. And I agree that they probably do not keep Congress from tackling other issues.

Still, they do take some floor time (and I guess committee time), and there is relatively little floor time (especially given their propensity not to have votes on Mondays and Fridays). So it's not obvious (to me) that the impact is negligible, as opposed to, say, something like 5% of floor time.

When Congress is actually using floor time for meaningful legislation, the stream of trivial feel-good bills doesn't slow down. It's part of the social lubrication that keeps things going. The importance of floor time in Congress is over-rated. Most things are talked out in other stages, and a big set-piece floor debate where things actually happen is rare, even for major bills.

political discussion aside - Garth Brooks WISHES what he does was country music. Or should I say what he DID?

So does this mean that when someone in another country listens to country music they'll know it's American-country music? Gee I hope those foreigners get the message!

Did you happen to notice the resolution was introduced by a Republican Rep from Florida? I understand that Larry the Cable Guy is from Florida, but the bill is not recognizing Redneck comedians.

Although I do not support our Congress wasting their time on meaningless fluff like this, it does make me wonder why a representative from Kentucky or Tennessee did not sponsor the resolution? Technically Kentucky is the proper birthplace of Country music and Nashville Tennessee has been the Country Music Recording capital for years. Shoot even a Rep from Alabama could have because of Mussel Shoals and their country music recording history.
