Well, if math serves, as it oft does, if you're almost 31 now, and you only anticipate 20 to 40 more leave raking years, you intend to die anywhere between 51 and 71. There are those who would find that reasonable I suppose. But I'm not one of them. Shit woman! Let's have some longevity here!! You're granny is older than that, had like 15 kids and tuberculosous for the love of gods!! Although, maybe she doesn't actually do the raking anymore.
(Technically, you could fill those bags 20 to 40 times this year alone.)
You sound like my husband. . . .joymattinglyOctober 17 2005, 20:37:17 UTC
He was horrified about the 20-40 number too, but like Danimal says-- that's why you have children. To do the yardwork, you see. I told my husband that by the time I'm 51-71, I'll be living somewhere that doesn't require yard work, like an old folks home or something. This didn't make him feel better, but I see nothing wrong with living at an assisted living place where they have a recreation leader and organize trips and stuff. It'll be like a Elderly Wood Hall or something, right?
I am really bummed that I can't see you all glow-ey as you get closer. I am so happy for you and Dan. Even though it may be a little while, Elaine and I will get back to Colorado and can't wait to see the Jackson family (which by that time will be all 3 of you). Also if you are going to go nuts and be back in KY over Xmas (to show off that new human), we will be there as well. Having a pretty good feel for the type of man Dan is, and knowing you the way I do - Your little human is damn lucky cause they are gonna have an incredible Mom and Dad to care for em.
Thanks, Carl. And I can't say I'm all a glowey or anything. . . . just waddling around. Though after a good walk, Dan thinks I look radiant. So maybe there is some glowey stuff happening. . . .
I had gone through and re-read a bunch of your posts. I find that they require a lot of concentration, or that I want to ponder them alot, your posts. So sometimes I skim them and think about them for looooong periods, before I go back and reread and reconsider and sometimes comment. . . . betcha' never knew, eh? But one of the comments I made on your post, spurred this haiku and post. The beauty of LJ.
lovely, danimal. i like the RV rolls south line. . . . not sure how you meant it, but it has loads of meanings it could take. . . . and they're all interesting and thought provoking.

As for the underlying questions on life and time I leave you with a farewell haiku:
Ten idle summers
only thirty pumpkin bags?
an RV rolls south
Such is life. Poo-tee-weet.
