Norrington/Gillette, Sparrow, Turner music vid - in 3 languages! :-D

I can't remember having had so much fun in weeks! After I finished the Norrington/Turner video, I thought it was nothing but fair to have a Norrington/Gillette one as well. Alas, there was not enough Gillette-material at hand for a solo-show. But the slash is there - definitely! :-D Especially in the English and the German version ( Read more... )

YAY for the first Gillington vid ever ! hms_dauntless October 28 2006, 05:53:54 UTC
OMG ! I've never laughed so much ! This is even better than CotBP ! Absolute sheer genius. I like the music, I like the old style film, I like the rhythm of the clip, I like it all ! Fantastic humour. And the brilliant way you used the few available Gillette scenes will make me giggle like a Gillington fangirl for all the rest of my life !
I'd like so much to understand the original German version ! Is the text very different from the English one ?
And might you please provide a downloadable version of the clips (whatever version) ? I'd like so much to have the lads on my PC *puppy eyes (but of course feel free to ignore my request if it is any way inconvenient to you)*

Seriously the first? :-O Huuuh!

Thanks so much for your encouragement - it's only my third music vid ever, and I only just started playing around with the software. I'm having so much fun with it!

The German version is more "straightforward" - you can find a word-by-word translation here. It's a bit of a storyboard - you can see what scene matches the lyrics, so maybe the German version will be easier to understand. :)

The English video version is available for download on my website, here. I'm currently trying to chase down the Italian version of the song; apparently there IS a recording of it, but it's not on any of the CDs I own. But I'm not giving up. ;)

I think my favourite is the German version - and Barbossa rolling his eyes, of course.

Plus, the shiny sepia look which fits perfectly.

I wish I'd found a fitting place for eye-rolling Barbossa in the English version. It's one of my favourite bits. :)

The German one is special to me because it brings back so many childhood memories. But I'm very fond of the French one - it's SO WRONG on more levels that I can mention! :)) Gillette le pompom

*grin* I don't understand the French one, so I have to admit I didn't even watch it.

And you made me want to do a vid to "Ein Schiff wird kommen" or some other vile German Schlager.

This is brilliant! I've watched the English version about 5 times now, and one each for the others. I love the sepia tone to match the music - it goes so well! (Gillette's 'OMG we're being run over!!! ABANDON SHIP!!!' gesture in particular was just a fabulous silent-film moment :D ) But I love the clever way that you've fitted it to the lyrics. The Gillington is very subtle (I was able to show it to my non-slash-fan husband without embarrassment) but definitely there. ('How can a man be faithful when sailing to Hong Kong?' was good, but 'a sailor only loves when that love is contraband' was a masterstroke :) And 'that makes his life a gay one'? *Snerk* You said it, mates :)!

Wonderful! Really unusual and really well fitted to the music. You must do more!

Wow - thank you! :O) Very happy that you liked it so much and that it worked for you. I did want it to be slashy, but not so "right in your face", you know? So I'm really glad it turned out that way and the insider jokes arrived. The "abandon ship" bit was among my favourites - I did a version with double speed, and that was VERY much like Keystone Kops :))

I hope I can do another one someday; if only I had more time. Days should have more hours...

Again, thanks so much for the lovely feedback. Made my day. :)
