Ah no, you see, for our boys, the cheapest, oldest stuff was good enough, and we had to fight for every repair. But now it's all top brands and luxury. We still pay full rent for the home, which is about US$ 15'500 per month, so one should think a working fridge and a place to cook could be expected! *rage*
Avengers was fantastic. I'll post a review soon, loved it to bits. :)
The youth home where I work will close by the end of June. A home for mothers and kids will move in - basically, it's "boys out, girls with children in" because girls with kids is more popular, politics-wise, and the financial benefits are higher. As if they couldn't afford to support all!
So we had to find new places for all the lads, some returned to their families, some moved into their own flats (and that's not a good thing in all cases, because they just weren't at that point yet where they can live independently). It's all very upsetting and makes me angry, but ripping out the kitchens while we're still there and still pay the full rent gets me into bersek mood. >:(
Wow, that's actually really depressing in a way. Kinda feels sexist too. Just because they're boys they don't get equal financial help ect? Wow. I hope you're not losing your job. @_@
It's a political issue and very complicated. Male teenagers, most of them with an immigration background, some of them aggressive and with more than one entry in the crime register, just aren't as popular a target group to spend tax money on than girls and women with babies. I have to emphasise that I absolutely don't mind the latter group gets support (the Gods know they need it).
We all lost our jobs, but I found a new one in March (which is great and I love it, but stil...), and since then, I'm working in both places and will stay to the bitter end. It's like Titanic...
Living off sandwiches and lukewarm water, I suppose... that aside, I have to close the books. That's work which demands high concentration at the best of times; how I'm expected to do this while they wreck the place, I have no idea. I'm counting the days...
If you're paying rent, then they really shouldn't have any right to be taking amenities out yet. I don't suppose it's worth it at this point to fight with them over it, though. Is there someone you know with a mini-fridge than can be plugged in?

Sending you all the emotional support I can. Wish I was there to help in person. Not sure what I could do, but... something.
