Fests, fests everywhere!

It's Kink Bingo time again! This is my second favorite challenge of the year, after Yuletide. It's amazing how much insight I can get into a character or pairing by figuring out how they'd approach a kink or scenario (see: the first several Spock/Uhura fics I wrote).

Card and brainstorming under cut, both blatantly copypasta'd from my fic journal )

I'm doing rare pair fest, and a few of my old Star Trek buddies are too. I'm offering various Maria Hill pairings, plus Clint/Natasha and Darcy/Bruce in Avengers; all the Gaila pairings plus McCoy/Uhura in STXI; Mycroft/Anthea and Sally/John in Sherlock; and Snape/Narcissa, Oliver/Percy, and Dumbledore/Grindelwald in Harry Potter.

I don't think you need to worry about annoying people with personal content in your fandom LJ. I was paranoid about it too, but a lot of people told me they enjoyed it as a way to keep in touch after we'd become interested in different fandoms. I just put it behind a cut so people who aren't interested can skip it.

Also, I am in love with your Pepper/Darcy idea, and Pepper/Natasha paddling sounds amazing!

Oh, cool! I like how many Gaila pairings are available, and I especially like the idea of Gaila/Kirk/McCoy (though I do wish there was more femslash, sigh). I think I might have to try this; some of the BSG pairings are very relevant to my interests.

Darcy/Bruce? Interesting! I've never thought of it, but that has major potential. Got any recs?

I think you're very good at rare pairs, so I'd love to see what you write for the fest.

As for the Darcy/Bruce, no recs at all, but I picked up a prompt for them that I'm really enjoying.

FWIW, my understanding is that as long as SOMEONE finds the part of the fic that relates to the card kink kinky, you're fine. Obviously, the mods have reason to be upset if your 'bondage (wrist/ankle restraints)' fic is 95% about cross-dressing, but that's because in that case the fic's 'erotic focus' is clearly on the 'wrong' kink. But a fic that is 95% setup and 5% the actual kinky scene would be fine. As to WHO finds it kinky, it could be anyone, not necessarily the POV character, not necessarily even a character in the scene. If you, the author, find it kinky, then it counts. That means even if it's non-con, with absolutely no one involved finding it enjoyable, it can still count if you, as author, or your target audience, find it kinky. And kink doesn't require sex. That's how come I could submit an icon set of characters in handcuffs, even though none of the scenes involved sex, or nudity, or characters enjoying being in handcuffs for

I always forget about how broad the erotic focus can be! I tend to get stuck on having literal kinky sex scenes and forget about narrative kinks or the more subtle aspects involved. That helps a lot with another square I was stuck on, actually; I had a great scenario in mind, but while it isn't sexual in the slightest, it is sensual. And appealing to the reader, too, in a Dean-in-handcuffs kind of way. *g*

I'm pretty sure that the torture/interrogation scene works, though it is (like you mentioned) less of a sexual kink and more of a narrative one (basically involving Natasha having Feelings about the interrogation and how she's conducting it), so I hope that one goes over well. As for the body alteration/injury fic...man, it just ran away from me and decided to qualify way better for a postage stamp, which takes away from the worries about it meeting standards for that particular kink.

I think the most important part is that you use appropriate content notes on your KB postingOh, definitely! I tend to err on the side of over- ( ... )
