You might want to check out park 25 -- I lived there for a year, and while it's an older building it's a fairly convenient location and the apartments are huge for the price -- we paid $590 for a two bedroom 1000+ sq feet.
Stay away from Colony Woods. Seriously. Far, far away.
Honestly,if there's a way to get in on a roommate situation in downtown in one of the houses down there, that's probably going to be ideal for you.
