Turkey's foreign policy and energy ambitions have grown markedly in recent years. Turkey has concerned itself with events far beyond its own area of interest, leaving no one in doubt that Ankara is staking its claim to become a major transit country and an intermediary for trading hydrocarbons between Europe and Asia.
Turkey hopes to achieve a serious political goal - it wants to lead the region. The prerequisites for that are in place, and we must say they are quite impressive. As a member of the UN Security Council, Turkey is represented in almost all European organizations except the EU, and it continues to negotiate for membership in that organization.
