Thanks! Yes, I did the color on them. I used lots of layering. For the Aztec Priest, the backdrop was basically a line drawing based on an Aztec calendar, with a bunch of textured-scatter-brushing to suggest a stone texture via light stippling, and then I applied a bevel layer style to it to give it some depth - and a gradient overlay for the color-shadow shift.
For the swamp scene, I applied multiple translucent layers of "haze" (basically a duplication of the blotchy "sky" background) in between the background-to-foreground layer elements, to try to give something of a sense of distance via a hint of "atmospheric perspective." And in case you're wondering, that monster is indeed missing its lower jaw. It's an Aztec mythical critter.
