"Limerick on Michael Brown," by Ashley Ray Goldenberg (2014)

Dec 06, 2014 04:50

Ashley Ray Goldenberg has been subject to a lot of abuse by self-proclaimed Social Justice Warriors for having posted this poem.  Some of this abuse is extreme illegal, and I devoutly hope that the persons who engaged in it are arrested, convicted, and have the privilege of personally meeting and getting to know such nice young gentle giants such ( Read more... )

The limerick deserves to "go viral". I'm posting it.

Go for it!

Personally, I think the limerick should be chanted at the "demonstrators" by counter-demonstrators, backed up by men with rifles. I think the "demonstrators" would lose a little of the fire in their bellies if said fire was replaced by high-speed lead.

unfortunately, SJW are in the positions to give orders to men with rifles. At least here in NY men-w-rifles publicly voiced their outrage.
Re-posted. Thank you, Jordan.

on re-reading the linked post: what is university Title IX and who is Title IX coordinator?

Title IX is the Equal Opportunity in Education Act. The Title IX coordinator would be the person at her university in charge of seeing that it's enforced.

In practical terms, it means the person who investigates claims of gender-based discrimination, including sexual harassment.

It would be ironic, but amusing, for a conservative libertarian to use Title IX (not exactly one of their favorite laws) as a club to beat SJWs with.

That poem is bad and Ashley should feel bad.

I'm glad to see that you believe, Andrew P. Marston of Marshfield MA, that death threats and illegal hacking are appropriate responses by literary critics to poems they dislike. Shall we take that as permission to rape or kill you, or burn down your house? Or does this suggested new rule of literary criticism only apply to persons not named Andrew P. Marston?

She's probably faking the death threats.

Considering that there were, and maybe still are, violent and murderous mobs in and around Ferguson MO, why do you assume that she's faking the death threats? Furthermore, she's contacted the police about them, so if she's faking them, this will be soon discovered; if she's not, certain SJW's who imagined that the "anonymity" of a Tumblr account would protect them may be making a more personal acquaintance of individuals like Michael Brown, as I hoped in my main post.

About a decade ago, as a shiny young student, I got involved in online radical feminist groups. This was a mistake, but an instructive one, as I had an opportunity to actually get to know and recognize a lot of the regulars before getting booted over something trivial. Some of these people had legit reasons behind their positions, but a lot of them were clearly mentally ill/unstable people who were using ideology as a justification for their disturbed behavior, rather than seeking out the mental help they so desperately needed. Radical feminism encourages this behavior ( ... )

I used to be a lot more sympathetic and friendly to SJWs and radfems. In the last few years, I've had a number of "scales falling from the eyes" experiences - I still sympathize with a lot of liberal causes, but I think you're right about the inability of SJWs to recognize or acknowledge inappropriate behavior by "their own."

Yeah, the Winterfox/Requires Hate to-do was pretty clear evidence of that to me. It's not bad that she's verbally abusive, stalkerish and doxxy, it's bad that she's doing it to our people!

Oh, yes, that person. I remember them. Obviously mentally ill, but deportation would be a higher priority in their case.

The poem is bad, but only because it has a different number of syllables in the first and second lines, and reads awkwardly.

If the first line was "There once was a thug named MIKE Brown," it would be a proper Limerick.

That's a fair critique.

It seems like, “And his homies then burnt down the town” scans better, too.

Edit:  There's a rhythm to limericks.  Edward Gorey wrote them in both English and French, which I thought was pretty cool - that's mastery of a language.

Another great example of sociopaths unable to withstand being mocked or to have their causes mocked. Hope Ashley is successful in prosecuting the worst of them, especially the ones that targeted her mother. Targeting somebody's loved ones is about as low as you can get!
