This week, the eyebrow-raising news is that Sweden is offering instant permanent residency to any and all Syrian refugees who apply. Full stop.  Does anyone really believe that this policy will end well

Sweden has the highest rate of rapes of any Western country, and the vast majority of these rapes are committed by Muslim immigrants against ethnic Swedes. You'd think they'd get the clue. Apparently, the Swedish elite is so unanimous in support of open immigration from the Mideast that no newspapers dare to even officially notice the implications of the statistics.

At the risk of being politically incorrect, one would be tempted to say that "maybe they like it." I can't think of any other reason why they'd put up with that.

The fact that this hasn't led to regular lynchings of the immigrants by the natives seriously implies that the Swedes on some level believe that they deserve to be raped, perhaps for their imaginary acts of imperialism.

Something that you don't mention: once you have citizenship of a European Union country, you are entitled to move to any other European Country. So if millions of Syrians decide that Sweden is too cold, there would be nothing to stop them moving to another EU country once they have that EU passport.

Oh yikes! I was going to suggest the neighboring countries with Sweden secure their borders. It sounds like Sweden is screwing everyone over.

It has occurred to me that this could be an issue which could break the EU. What if hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of Syrians flood into Sweden? And bring the civil war with them. And then start migrating to other European countries?

I'm more referring to the popular stories about how the jews have been run out of Malmo in particular and Sweden in general due to the influx of muslims and the general inability to punish them en mass for en mass persecution.

Secondly, I suggest you read the novel "Caliphate" by Tom Kratman. THAT is what is awaiting us in Europe.

I've read it, and it's a great book. Great because Kratman dares speculate about something taboo in a lot of science fiction. Very few science-fiction writers are wiling to talk about the elephant in the room of Muslim aggressiveness and deliberate colonization-by-immigration. Thus they craft futures in which, for no obvious or very explicit reason, the Muslims have all become sweetly reasonable save perhaps in their countries of origin (which may lead either to The End of the World or the Destruction of Israel -- almost never anything in between).

Tom Kratman's speculation is that the result will be a highly-destructive global war, which the Muslims badly LOSE, coupled with a hardening of all Great Powers against both Islam and each other, but in the case of Europe and Europe alone, the Muslim minority will rise, swelled by immigrants from the devasted lands, and the European natives will go under. You have far greater faith in the Swedish people to wake up and resist than I do. I meanwhile remain firm in my belief in their power to make excuses and stick their finger in their ears until its FAR too late. When it does go down even if they did suddenly find the backbones they abandoned in the 19th century, just what do you expect them to do? Like all good Europeon progressives they've thoroughly disarmed their civilian population. Not to mention your average Boy Scout troop probably has a better grasp of military training and tactics than 99 of 100 Swedes. When it does go down even if they did suddenly find the backbones they abandoned in the 19th century, just what do you expect them to do?

Sweden actually has a strong military for a European Minor Power, and only ended compulsory military service for all male citizens a few years ago. That means that the majority of Swedish men at least know how to move in units and shoot rifles. In terms of small arms, Sweden (like most countries) owns enough or could get enough on short notice to essentially arm their whole population capable of military service of any sort.

Muslims tend toward military incompetence. They are "hardened veterans" of fighting against other military incompetence -- when Syrians have fought the militarily competent, they have suffered military disasters. The only way in which the Syrian immigrants would be likely to win a straight-out civil war would be if they significantly outnumbered the natives in the category of persons able and willing to bear arms in a fight -- and by significantly, I mean enough to
