The passage of Obamacare does NOT mean that Barack Obama has now been crowned King of America, with Nancy Pelosi his evil witch whipping up Ro-Beasts on demand.

Judging from this, I'd say you're right on the money about that. There's a lot of defeatism out there, and I myself am still saddled with this gigantic, if vague, sense of dread for reasons of which I am not sure. But the worst thing we can do now is give up. If not giving up means anything, we can win.

Stop watching the MsM. They're the ones who are fostering such ideas because that's how they want you to feel. As for myself, I get all my news from the overseas press.

Sweetie, that poll is consistent with what I've seen from all other news reports: three-quarters of respondents didn't want that bill to pass. And that's something the MSM really isn't happy about. Now, I've got a choice: I can commit suicide, or I can stay right where I am. I'm dirt-poor and don't have choices as to where to move -- and I love my country. I couldn't possibly live much longer anyway, given my health problems, which can't be addressed medically, so I have nothing to lose by adhering to my viewpoint. Obviously you're trying to whip up a movement. Count me out -- movements suck. All they do is use up and throw away cannon-fodder in the form of survivors of terrible childhoods, and the only ones who profit from them are victimizers. No, thank you.

Trust me on this: if I had any intentions to whip up a movement, I sure wouldn't be doing it on Ell-Jay.

Secondly, my great grandfather loved his country too. That didn't keep him from high tailing it out of Russia, literally days ahead of the October Revolution.

If this health care "reform" stands, and Crap 'n' Tax passes, believe me, I will be doing some high tailing myself. If maintaining some semblance of a Middle Class life means moving back to Russia, then that's what I damn well intend to do.

Well, now that I know that there are only 212 Representatives with any sense in the Congress, I can't say I'm very confident in our leadership anymore. They only need 51 votes in the Senate, so that's going to happen, and I somehow don't get the impression that Obama is going to veto this particular piece of legislature...

You're probably right about the Courts though. As long as just five of the judges realize that placing a tax on breathing is the very definition of "Unconstitutional", it'll be thrown out and Obama will hopefully be sufficiently cowed into seeing what an ignorant moron he was. (don't deny me my fantasies!)

Of course, one should always plan for the worst while hoping for the best less than the worst. To wit: I will never, ever, pay a tax for being in good health. Nor will I buy insurance while it's not cost effective for me. Nor do I intend to go to prison. Which means that I should probably start looking at other countries and getting the appropriate emigration forms ready, just in case ( ... )

I have some bad news.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that CO2 is a pollutant, opening up the possibility for the EPA to regulate "breathing" via cap and trade. :-(

Is this a surprise? We're discussing the silly geese who maintain that a disproportionate distribution creates a presumption of discrimination.

All lawyers and judges who did not take or who flunked Statistics 101 should be disbarred and removed from the bench.

I hope instead of just rallying around an effort to destroy it, some honest effort is put into replacing it with something else.

First we clear the ground, to have it to put any replacement.

In that case my best bet is still to leave the country -_- I guess I need to file bankruptcy then flee the instant the paperwork clears.

We're going to have to get enough people in Congress who are actually willing to look at an alternative first.

I love how the hypocrisy of the Neocons comes out when the Democrats come out and spend a whole bunch of money and whine about fiscal responsibility.

St. George W. Bush (all genuflect) increased the federal budget:

- on ENTITLEMENT spending from $1106B in FY2002 to $2516B for FY2009, a 128% increase.
- on DISCRETIONARY spending from $734B in FY2002 to $1279B for FY2009, a 74% increase.
- on TOTAL spending from $2011B in FY2002 to $3938B for FY2009, a 96% increase.

This is as the total revenues shrank from 2008.

and yes, I can cite it... www.budget.gov "Historical Tables" (Note that this isn't some other guy's blog)

Spending went out of control under Bush, and the Republicans just sat and watched or cheered as Bush spent more and more and more.

While Obama isn't doing any better, you Neocons have no business screaming about spending.

Er, Bush signed the Democrat-majority budget into place for FY2009 just before hightailing it out of there, after having people demonize him for nearly everything he ever did, including a tax break for the middle class back on '02ish that raised revenues and put the economy into an upswing.

So before you go blaming Bush who signed it, you should take a good look at Pelosi and Reid who sent it to him.

Umm... Okay, bush increased the debt by $5 trillion over the course of 8 years. That is bad, in fact, it is very bad. I for one *was* screaming about it, rather loudly in fact ( ... )
