In Finland on Thursday, a man went on a shooting spree in a shopping mall, killing his ex-girlfriend (who had taken out a restraining order against him) and four other mall workers, before killing himself ( Read more... )

I'm eating breakfast in a restaurant in Cheyenne with a concealed .45 I legally own and carry. So far, nobody has been killed. Yay for legality!

Thank you. Made it myself with GIMP. First program for Graphics I can make work the way I want. Also used it to redo the background for my journal.

Along these lines, you may have seen my recent rant on the inbuilt blindness of the Left -- their philosophy makes them not unwilling, but unable to see Islamic terrorism as a threat greater than the impending Xtian Theocracy.

Their entire way of life is devoted to stopping one problem: White racism. Hence, any news reports which bring to mind the idea that members of the Islamic faith may differ from, say, Episcopalians, they analyze as a racism problem, and they apply the solution of preventing the state and the public from taking note of racial characteristics (which, in this case, include the religion of the shooter).

It is like taking a highjumper to a limbo contest. No matter what you tell him, when he sees the stick, his habituated response is to jump over it, even when that is not the proper response.

The last two liberals on my friendslist both share my unequivocal hate of of illegal immigrants getting endless passes, and one of 'em despises the Muslim abuse of 'multiculturalism' with the fire of a thousand suns, and feels that adopting the good things of one's new country, and keeping the good things of your culture is real multiculturalism, not 'keep everything, chuck nothing out, accept nothing new'. Both of them are pro-gun too.

But yeah, on a general sort of way, you're right.

See how Al'lah sends blindness and madness upon the Infidel, preparing them for slaughter and pillage?

Fortunately this tired old argument is finally running out of steam in the US, even in the mainstream media.

Why don't they just ban crazed lunatics that want to kill their wives/girlfriends and other innocents? Makes as much sense. The gun can't obey the law, it's just piece of metal . . .

Yet we hear SUVs going crazy and driving into coffee shops, or flipping over and killing all occupants.

Why don't they say the AK-47 went nuts and started spraying people in the mall. The Beretta 9mm racked its slide and went wacko, not the person holding it.

Better not give the media any ideas . . .

On Morning in America with Dr. Bennett, someone asked about Israeli airport security. They don't look for the weapons like we do in the U.S., they look for the terrorists. How do they do it? Each passenger is asked a few questions. Why are you going, what is your business? . . . They find terrorists pretty quick this way, and it doesn't cost millions in body scanners.

Have you ever flown on El Al? They seriously put you through the wringer! I was just an innocent tourist with nothing to hide, and I look about as whitebread as you can get. They still grilled me for 15 minutes straight, took my 2 year old away from me, and asked her to "point to her mommy".

I wasn't the least bit offended, I was grateful for their vigilance. Safest airline in the world.

If the average Americab went through what El Al puts people through no one would ever fly again.

Last time I was in Tel Aviv I was joking about "the arab line" with the El Al security agent. I said that such a line would never be found in the US as its "profiling". The agent didnt even smile- he just looked at me and in all seriousness said "That's why you had 9/11".

Couldnt really argue there.

El AL is also the only airline that doesnt trust ANYONES security procedures but their own. Most dont know it but where ever El Al flies out of they have their own security screening, their own X-ray machines, their own baggage handlers and they treat their planes like Air Force One- if you are not on the authorized list to service the bird you dont approach it. Period.

Getting huffy over being profiled is just about the stupidest thing, ever. The way I see it, if you're an Arab and you're being profiled, and you have no plans to blow anything up, then what's the problem? You should be thanking the security agents for keeping your butt safe when you travel.

Besides, remember the last big bombing attempt on El Al? It was a young Irish woman who was 8 months pregnant. She was carrying a suitcase full of explosives that was given to her by her Palestinian arab boyfriend.

EVERYONE gets profiled. Everyone.

I'll have to read more of the story to form a complete opinion of the matter. But as a side note, it always surprises and disgusts me when I see security guards of all kinds here in the U.S. with no guns! I've seen them in stores/malls and even banks. What are they supposed to do if something like this happens? Just yell, "STOP RIGHT THERE!" It's laughable. And tragic.

Who would want a job like that? Not me! Might as well have a bull's eye on your chest.

I worked a a security guard once, for about 3 weeks. I quit because I found out I was getting in more trouble for defending myself and someone in the establishment I was guarding with martial arts than I got in for breaking someone's arm while working as a bouncer.

Mind you, that idiot had a knife, but still. The job title includes the word guard for crying out loud...

Friend of mine in Oregon got fired for pulling a gun on kids who threatened him. He had a permit and the gun was legal, the security company he was working for at the time said he wasn't allowed to defend himself.

He sued.

He won a bundle.
