Mutual Misinterpretation with Matociquala

I think that matociquala, aka Elizabeth Bear, misinterpreted my original remark, because when I (later) explained myself she said she agreed with me. So, while I very much appreciate the expressions of support, I think that I was too hard on her and persuaded others to be too hard on her as well.

Don't be too embarrassed. You apparently opened her eyes to something she hadn't before seen, and this to the benefit of the Cuban people.

You are a stand up guy for saying so.

A little emotional pain is often the cost of an awakening. In the end she's better for it.

Also, I didn't realize sex was a big factor in the tourism there. Maybe I'll have to rethink my... um nevermind.

Not sure if you know or if it came up, but the internet basically smacked her upside the head a while back for being racist. That has probably made her overcautious.
