The Toxicity of Islam in America

Dec 01, 2009 21:25

mangoflush made the mistake of asking me, probably not expecting an answer:

Name one incident where a fundamentalist muslim has killed an American on US soil after 9/11 (with a credible news source).

Wait. That's too easy. Name ten. ;)(http://mangoflush.livejournal ( Read more... )

muslim, crime, islam, terrorism

The fact that someone even asks such a question seems to imply on their part that they don't believe such things have happened on a regular basis.

Seriously, what planet do such people live on?

As a side note, how I hate the term "fundamentalist". Rather, not so much the word itself, but the way it's used. It's usually used as a pejorative term, when all it means is someone who holds to the fundamentals - the foundational teachings - of (in this case) a religion.

The point to be emphasized shouldn't be whether someone holds to those foundational teachings. The point to be emphasized should be what those foundational teachings are. But that is rarely, if ever, touched upon.

That's all well and good, but can you point to anything on the scale, relative to population, of Muslim terrorism in America? As you may have not noticed, Neo-Nazis and radical anti-abortionists only very occasionally actually kill anyone. And they certainly don't kill thousands of people a decade, which is what they would need to be doing to be relatively equivalent to the fundamentalist Muslims in America.

You, I suspect, have expertise on the matter. Anyway, do you have something to contribute or just trolling?

Well, crap. I wish that wasn't a flocked entry. I would love to see their reaction to that.

I'm stunned. I had no idea that such incidents -- i.e., killings of others by Muslims in America -- took place so frequently. I'd seen news stories about many of these incidents, but as you said in your own case, I hadn't added them up and looked at the total. This should put paid to any claims that Islam is a true religion of peace -- well, as far as reasonable people go, anyway. Commenters aren't always notable for being reasonable.

Alas, it will not. I'd bet you could show video attacks happening live on camera, with the perpetrators holding a Koran and stating outright, "I'm doing this because this is what Islam teaches me to do!" and people would STILL deny it.

Frankly, I'm at a loss at this point. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

I did say, "as far as reasonable" types go. Those in denial about this are not reasonable. The scary part is just how many of them there are.

Indeed! I would love to come across some reasonable people who have changed their view as a result of seeing evidence like this. I don't think I've ever come across any!

I would remind you that, in the case of Fort Hood, one of the women was pregnant. That makes 14 dead.

Oh, wow, I didn't realize that. That family lost two loved ones, then. How awful.
