Breaking a silence of more than a year to rec a fic.
It is often tempting (I well know) for a fanfic writer to want to take on huge mythic, supernatural or spiritual themes, but it is also very hard to do it well. A story can grow and take on a life of its own, but in the end will the resolution match the ambition? Sadly, often it does not.

It was on GeoCities, which has closed. I believed that I would be able to transfer it directly to the Yahoo web hosting, but of course it hasn't been as easy as that. Merlin fic rec - The Knights have a Thousand Eyes
Wonderful long story. The characters are the thing. Arthur is himself, but the deeper, more admirable self he should be. Merlin is spot on. But the knights. Oh, the knights. They've become part of the ensemble cast; distinct parts of a band of adorable comedians, brave and true. I think this is an instant classic.
