Ramblings on spoilers and I finally throw my opinions on Torchwood S4 into the ring

Nov 10, 2010 17:29

I have been saying for a couple of weeks that things have reached the point where I have to decide when to start hiding from the Torchwood info being released for fear of spoilers…and I have reached my decision.

The ramble and my Torchwood season four feelings are here... )

primeval, ramblings, being human, torchwood

Two things... firstly, why aren't we friends on lj already? *adds*

Secondly... this is what I've been saying for months. It's going to be different, but the difference between Old Torchwood and New Torchwood is staggering enough for them to be seperated... so people who don't like New Torchwood can just think of Old Torchwood as the end of a great show, and that's fine. And those of us who are excited can be excited, and should be able to be excited in peace.

The thing that frustrates me is I've got someone on my f'list who isn't looking forward to s4, who doesn't want anything to do with it, so she is seperating the two, saying 'this is a show I love, and it's over, but there's a new show for people to enjoy... if they want to.' ...so why can't the rest of fandom be like that?

An oversite that has been rectified!

I totally agree...Why am I wrong for getting excited. If you don't want to watch that's fine, but don't tell me I'm wrong, or "betraying Ianto's memory" because I want the new series to rock.

Seriously...someone said that...

Someone actually said you were betraying Ianto's memory? How can you betray the memory of a fictional character?

EXACTLY! I thought Ianto was a fab character, but I also thought Tosh and Owen were fab characters - in fact Owen in my mind was the best character - but I still watched season four.

And as you very accurately say, they are fictional characters (sometimes I feel like I have to say that slowly - fortunately not to anyone that has replied here whichbrings me hope.)

You'll never get any spoilers from me :)

I'm not looking forward to S4 of Torchwood but I'll never have a go at anyone who is.
Although I did find CoE dramatic I've never had a burning desire to rewatch it (the BluRay disc hasn't left its case since July 2009) which leaves me feeling apathetic about S4. I don't hate Gwen or Jack but I don't really care about them either, and as much as I love Rhys he alone can't get me excited about S4. Maybe if I hear lots of OMG this is the best show ever I'll take a look ;)

Yah see? the yessers and the noers can get a long in harmony!

When I get it on DVD I'll lend it to you and you can skip through to the scenes with Rhys in ;o)

You know how I feel about the whole thing (very similar to i_bananas tbh), I'm not enthused, you won't get spoilers from me. I am looking forward to Being Human, but I'm not going looking for it, iyswim. I want to see what they do and where it goes! Now that's exciting!

I'm also looking forward to Sherlock and the Christmas Who!

And dreading the alleged MTV remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Oh yes, Christmas Who and more Sherlock FTW!

You already know I'm very excited. But I'll try to put anything spoilery behind an LJ cut. I tend to contain most of my S4 squealing to gleeclub anyway. As a general rule, as long as people don't harsh mah squee, I will not squee their harsh. So far this policy has worked pretty well. :)

I can't say that I'm uber excited about it but at the same time I'm not dreading it. So I do pretty much agree with you.

Haven't been seeking out spoilers either because I'm really not excited enough for it.

I wrote my own throughts (in a round about way) on my own LJ.
Summing it up, my views are more along 'the wait and see approach'
I have just enough lingering love for production team behind it (ie: Russel and Julie) for me to want to watch it.

I'm hoping it's good but I am very much seeing it as two different shows.

It's going to be hard, my two favourite characters are gone, but I have enough love for the remaining characters to want to watch it.

It's going to be different, it's going to be hard, but hopefully it's not going to be horrible.
I have enough hope.

Hope is wonderful; I am a big fan of hope. And I really hope I'm not let down...

Hope's a good emotion, I'm quite fond of hope

I'm really hoping that I'm not let down, it's taken me a while to be able to be hopeful about the future of Torchwood, I don't want my hopes crushed again
