In defense of social networks

I may have told you some or all of this story before, but I was thinking about it last night so I'm sharing it (again?).

One of the reasons that I still love FB (in spite of its massive faults) and G+ is because it has allowed me to reconnect with some awesome people that I really missed.  It has also allowed me to reconnect with some people that I ( Read more... )

That's fabulous! As far as FB, the thing I loathe about it is my family. I kinda have to have them on there. It's difficult to explain and terribly indicative the major dysfunction of my extended family. Anyway, their close-mindedness and intolerance makes FB have negative connotations for me. I <3 G+, tho.

I'm lucky that I don't have that family issue. I do have a couple of friends that I don't share most things with, though, for similar reasons.

I do prefer G+, though. By a lot.

Awww, you're so sweet. It's my fault that we fell out of touch. You certainly tried. I still remember a care package you sent me a few months after I moved east -- tea from Butterfly Herbs. I was so touched, but I never reciprocated. I'm horrible at letters, not much better about email, but for some reason the short messaging required by Facebook and G+ works for me.

And I love Trek Thursdays now! I thought Quetzy and I have to suffer in envy forever, but I forgot that we live in the 21st century now. :)

I'm terrible at letters and things too. Email is a lot easier for me, but FB & G+ are even easier.

I sent you a care package? That was nice of me. :) It sounds like the sort of thing I would do, too. :D

And I kind of doubt it was your fault, because honestly you're not the only person that I lost touch with during that period of time. I think I was being lazy about maintaining friendships. But I've really come to value my friends so much and I don't ever want to do that again! :)
