When I got the letter saying the Presbyterian pastor was leaving.
It was an answer to prayer I hadn't expected.

The last two ministers my parents have had to tolerate (as United Methodists) were very conservative ministers who only became ministers because their original congregations wouldn't allow women to become ministers.

You know, it never occured to me to ask before. I know your son has the British accent. What about the girls? Or did they come over here too young for that to stick?

They were nine, but had very little vocabulary back then.

Nowadays, they seem to go from English to American. One minute I'm 'Daddy', next thing I know they've added a vowel and I become 'Dee-addy' :)

When my parents and I visit my nephews and niece, it does feel like the rest of the world is put on hold to watch them.
