GSHW workshop: READING YOUR WORK ALOUD

Jan 06, 2011 11:15

I'm looking forward to this Saturday's GSHW meeting at East Brunswick Library, NJ08816. It's a one-hour workshop on reading your work aloud, conducted by Hildy Silverman (aka hildy9595), editor of Space And Time Magazine, and Neal Levin (aka dqg_neal) owner of Dark Quest Books.

I did my first ever reading last November, at PhilCon, where I read a passage from Fur-Read more... )

dark quest books, space and time magazine, gshw

Just keep an eye out for the Brad Pitt lookalike with the funny accent.

This is misleading information, because I won't be there.

The mother of my student worker from Venezuela is in town. She is going to teach me how to make her empanadas.

Probably trying to keep my crazy husband from shoveling snow all day. He seriously shovels paths all over our two acre property.

LOL, a husband who won't stop shoveling snow? More of us should have this problem!

He's kind of insane, Kam. The man is like a machine. He'll go out there at ten in the morning and shovel until the sun goes down. There are paths all over the yard--as if ANYONE NEEDS TO GET INTO THE POOL YARD IN THE WINTER! But this is his relaxation. He's an accountant, so he does lots of desk work during the week. Come the weekend, there's no keeping him in, no matter what the weather. He's 60, 14 years my senior, but he could run circles around me any day of the week!

Heheh that's awesome! :) I can definitely understand the need to blow off steam from a desk job... though no way am I *that* insane! At least it seems like a benign form of insanity ;)

I have private practice clients Saturday and then I will be critiquing someone's MS.

I'm eager to hear (read) what you learn about reading passages. Dot just did a post about tips she picked up on reading out loud. In one of my comments to someone, who mentioned being nervous about such things, I hinted that I may do some posts about public speaking anxiety. Maybe we can tie our post together (link one to the other)?

I hear things have reached the point where Brad Pitt now gets mistaken for you all the time.
