GSHW workshop: READING YOUR WORK ALOUD

Jan 06, 2011 11:15

I'm looking forward to this Saturday's GSHW meeting at East Brunswick Library, NJ08816. It's a one-hour workshop on reading your work aloud, conducted by Hildy Silverman (aka hildy9595), editor of Space And Time Magazine, and Neal Levin (aka dqg_neal) owner of Dark Quest Books.

I did my first ever reading last November, at PhilCon, where I read a passage from Fur-Read more... )

dark quest books, space and time magazine, gshw

Sounds like an excellent workshop!

My weekend plans include enjoying my daughter's last Saturday at home--and probably some revisions on my wip--as well as driving her back to college.

Ah, the old college ferry routine. I'll be doing some of that my own self later this year :0

Cool! Have fun, then schedule a reading somewhere. There's nothing so fulfilling as reading your story to an audience and having them applaud at the end. Ah, the spotlight! :)

They're supposed to applaud? I'll consider it a success if no one throws anything :)

Barring weather based issues, I plan to be at the meeting to heckle...I mean help critique your Reading. (And then I'll get lambasted when I take my turn at the virtual microphone)

The worst advice I ever got about talking/singing in public was to imagine the audience naked. It seemed like a good idea at first, until I saw my old gran sitting in the front row with her usual 'What's that awful smell' expression and a sack of 'past sell-by date' vegetables on her lap :(
