What a beginning! I'm loving/dreading a reappearance of the Weeping Angels, and it looks as if the Doctor, Rose and Jack are up against the Byzantium-style ones who are more actively violent and sadistic. EEurgh.

I love that it has a South African setting and am loving how much you are incorporating what you learned over there into this. Thorns ... yeah, that's one of the things I remember reading about, and all I can think is "Poor Rose!"

But even more ... poor Jack. Poor about-to-have-his-world-changed Jack.

Fantastic start!

I'm struggling with this problem, of how to square the Byzantium Angels with the Blink Angels. I try my best, in this story.

I've wanted to write fiction in this setting ever since! I've written a lot of memoir about my time there, but I thought it would be fun to set a story there. So glad you're enjoying it too!

Poor about-to-have-his-world-changed Jack.

It's a sign of my evil brain that when I watched the scene with Octavian and the Angel in "Flesh and Stone" I wanted nothing more than to write a scene with Jack in the same situation.

Nah. It's a sign of your writerly instincts, methinks.

I'm not sure "evil brain" and "writerly instincts" are distinguishable.

Oh, there's much more to come. Even three chapters may have been a conservative estimate.

Oh man, this is really interesting! A long time ago I thought about writing OT3 with a Weeping Angels plot, but it never went anywhere. This is so much better than anything I came up with! I can't wait for the next part.

Every time I watch a great Eleven episode, I want to rewrite it with the OT3. I got this idea way back when I watched Flesh and Stone - ideas can take such a long time to percolate, can't they?

Thanks for commenting, and tune in next week!

An intense start! The dynamic between Jack and the Doctor in this series has so intense in the earlier stories -- I'm eager to see how that carries over now that the Doctor is so different, and Jack as well! Really loving it so far; thanks for writing.

This will definitely test the Doctor and Jack's relationship. I just love putting them through the wringer. It was very kind of you to comment.

I love your realisation of the South African setting - it's so detailed, convincing and original. Such a refreshing change. Great work!

I've noticed that hardly any Doctor Who fics set on Earth are outside of Britain, let alone outside the US and Europe. I wanted something different for a change, and I love South Africa dearly. I'm glad you enjoy that change of setting too.
