Wow, this is amazing! I love how you tie together so many of the central characters in all of DW and TW (going right up through Miracle Day!), and I feel like I got new insight into every single one. So many of these father-child relationships are shaped by timey-wimey strangeness, while being psychologically realistic--just the right balance for a Whoniverse story.

Now that I look back on them, you're right - there is a lot of timey-wimey strangeness with fathers! I wonder if that says something about the authors, or just about storytelling conventions in general.

Oh my gosh. Whoah.

These pack such an emotional punch. I love them all. The last line of River's, Rory's comparisons, Rose. Jack: "now that it matters", Alice's made me so sad for her but hopeful that someday things will somehow get better, and Rex's made my eyes tear up.

All so great.

This is why I enjoy writing drabble form so much - I take a special joy in packing as much emotion as possible into a few words.

There are a lot of common themes in both shows. This whole drabble sequence was born of thinking about the implications of Rory being River's father, and what that might mean to her, and then realizing that River's feelings about Rory are mirrored again and again in different characters.

These are all lovely little vignettes, with your usual flair for short-form work. I was delighted to see Jenny show up again, and the way you managed to play with Amy and Rory and their multiple memories. But the whole thing was just leading up to Alice. That one hits like punch in the gut. Brilliant.

Alice is the reason I'm not sure I can ever watch Day Five again, much as I think that it's a triumph of television. Watching her in that episode is like putting my soul through a meat grinder. Yet at the same time, that vision of her still haunts me. It can't be exorcised. All Torchwood tragedy comes back around to her, clutching at the husk of her child.
