These are gorgeously crafted, but I think their biggest power is in their sequence, how they gain in intensity while skipping across timelines. Interesting that it started with River and Rory in your mind -- their connection, while fraught, seems relatively benign in comparison with most of the rest. You have a darkening outward spiral in progress here, and it plays, it plays.

I definitely didn't write them in that order; I wrote Jack's first because he's always come the most easily to me. Rex I wrote last because I've never written him before or even read about him in fic yet. But I realized I couldn't just post them in random sequence.

It's true. I thought about River and how her perceptions of him must have changed during the course of her life, and then of course I thought about other characters and how their perceptions of their fathers have changed, and before I knew it I had a theme. Funny how that happens, huh?
